Rock Paper Reign

Tactics Guide: Using Flag, Trap and Setup Well

In Rock Paper Reign, the best plan beats the fastest finger. You lead 14 warriors: four each with rock, paper and scissors, plus a flag and a trap. These tips turn gut feeling into tactics.

The setup: where matches are won

Do not put the flag in the middle of your front row. The edge and the back row are harder to reach, because pieces move one square per turn and never diagonally. The trap belongs on a likely attack route towards your flag. It never moves, and whoever steps in is out.

An advanced tip: do not place the trap right next to the flag. Once it is sprung, your opponent knows where it is and will search that exact area.

Reading pieces

Your opponent gives away more than they think:

When an attack pays off

Prefer attacking revealed pieces whose weapon you can beat. Attacking unknown pieces is a risk that mostly pays off when your warrior is already revealed. You have little left to lose, since your opponent knows it anyway.

Bluffing

Move a warrior as if it guarded the flag, or push it forward as if it could not lose. Your opponent sees only the movement, not the weapon. The game server tells no one what a hidden piece is, not even through your own device.

The duel

If both pieces carry the same weapon, you each pick a new one, fast and hidden. Hesitate and chance picks for you. Our tips for the classic game apply directly here.
